How
Several years ago, while cruising through the Bay of Quinte, home of some of the best freshwater sailing in North America, we came across a small piece of heaven on earth.
Atop a hill, overlooking the water and the expansive blue horizon beyond, a heritage farm property reached out and stole our hearts. Though we were city dwellers entrenched in busy careers, with sons in school, and no rational reason to make changes, for two whole years we couldn’t shake the notion that we had to have this place for our own.
Some things are meant to be. And so, in 2013, we bought “The Reach” as a weekend getaway and brought our sailboat from the city to her new home in the country.
I love a beautiful garden, and I now had 10 acres to play with. Someone suggested planting lavender to enhance the hillside view, and following year we put 120 plants of 4 different varieties into the ground. With a vineyard across the street, we figured the conditions would be hospitable for them. We were not disappointed! The following year with the help of friends, we added another 1000. That’s how Lake House Lavender came to be.
The adventure continues!
